Curiously enough, no pen paths were traced in the making. This started as a pencil sketch, then photographed and drawn on top of it with the Brush tool in Illustrator. The paths created by using the Brush tool with a tablet feel and play way easier than pen paths, and after that it's simple enough to polish them with the Smooth tool and add the finishing touches in Photoshop. I had never tried doing something like that, but it could work for other cartoony/sporty logos (:
